About the Meeting

Welcome to our website for the third AOGS-EGU Conference on
New Dimensions for Natural Hazards in Asia.

This international conference is a joint AOGS-EGU venture dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of natural hazards. This third year will be held virtually Monday to Wednesday 20 – 22 September 2021 (07:00-11:00 GMT).


Conference aim and themes: The aim of this international conference is to discuss current advances in knowledge and new perspectives relevant to natural hazards in the Asian region. There are seven themes [see here] related to natural hazards, including changing climate, megacities, human-induced hazards, remote observation, forecasting, multi-hazards, communications, policy-science-public interface and education. Each theme has 3-4 international scientists convening [click here].


The conference format:

  • We have organized this virtual conference to promote conversations, connections, and building bridges.
  • Registration (without abstract submission) is free
  • Should you wish to submit display material (a PDF of one to nine slides which can contain hyperlinks AND/OR a short video of up to 3 minutes) there will be an abstract processing charge of SGD 75.
  • Display material submitted will be available for viewing by participants, with a dedicated display material viewing session each day hosted via Padlets.
  • Sessions will include plenary panel sessions, several breakout sessions with guiding questions, dedicated display material viewing and general plenary sessions (including keynotes). See HERE:

Who is this conference for? This conference is intended for students, early career and established scientists from all areas of the globe.
